Tata Tiago & Tigor JTP Unveiled | Auto Expo 2018
In recent years, Tata has completely revamped its passenger car lineup. With so called Impact Design language, Tata has brought themselves into the bandwagon of new buyers. Tiago is one of their Impact design car which revived them in Indian market. Tata Tiago is one of the best selling hatchback car in its segment. Its sedan sibling Tata Tigor has taken up the competition with Suzuki Dzire & Hyundai Xcent. Both are doing great in their own segment to lure customers with almost perfect car & perfect pricing.
But few automotive enthusiast always under-rated the power of Tiago & Tigor with their competition. We were all expecting a more powerful engine in these car which would step up Tata’s game in competitive market. To everyone’s expectation, Tata unveiled the performance variant of their top selling cars – Tata Tiago & Tata Tigor at Auto Expo 2018. They call it Tata Tiago JTP & Tata Tigor JTP.
Tata Tiago & Tigor JTP
JTP stands for ‘Jayem Tata Performance‘, its a collaborative work of Tata Motors with Jayem Automotive. Over the standard model, lot of customization has been seen on JTP variant. Important of all is the 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine borrowed from the Tata Nexon. Engine is tuned to deliver 109 bhp and 150 Nm of peak torque over the existing model motor. Turbo-motor is coupled with their standard 5-speed manual gearbox with optimized gear ratios. Suspension setup too has been tweaked with lower springs and reduced ride height.
Performance variant of Tiago & Tigor – JTP gets custom exterior too. They get a sportier front bumper with larger air dam, new fog lamp housing and a smoked projector headlamps. Rear end comes with diffuser and a dual exhaust. Sportier variant gets a new 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels along with side skirts.
Car’s cabin almost remains same with few minor changes to give it a sportier stance. A rich leather finish on the seats and steering wheel with red stitches. Part of sportier makeover, performance variant get aluminium pedals too.
Tata Tiago & Tigor JTP Launch date & Pricing
Tata hasn’t disclosed any pricing or launch date of their performance Tiago & Tigor cars. But according to the rumors, we can expect the launch somewhere in mid-year. Pricing is expected to be around 1 Lakh more compared to current market model.
